BioBag is the world's largest brand of certified biodegradable bags and all the products are certified to meet the ASTM D6400-99 standard for compostable plastics. The bags are also certified "OK COMPOST", based on the European standard EN 13432, the strictest standard for compostable plastics.

BioBag products are made from Mater-Bi, the main component of which is corn starch and use no polyethylene in the production process and contain no additive to stimulate decomposition. The BioBag bags biodegrade between 90-180 days, depending on the composting method. They have a shelf life just like paper plates or paper towels, and the corn used in making the bags is certified GMO Free. The inks and dyes used for print and color are soy based and certified for minimal metal content.

Composting is required for biodegradation and these compostable bags will completely biodegrade within 90-180 days in a commercial composting facility, and can take up to a year to biodegrade in a home composting system.
